Unter dem Titel "Digitized Tibetan Metaphors: Tracing the Formation and Development of Religious Ideas" wird Jan-Ulrich Sobisch am Dienstag, 13. Juni 2023 von 18.15 - 19.45 Uhr einen Vortrag an der Universität Bonn halten. Die Veranstaltung ist ein Hybrid-Format und kann daher sowohl vor Ort in Hörsaal IV im Hauptgebäude, als auch online besucht werden.

Abstract zum Vortrag:
"The presentation discusses some aspects of the role of metaphors in religious language and the study of metaphors in religious texts. It shows that religious metaphors are not only useful for expressing concepts that are difficult to articulate directly, but they also provide a way to make complex ideas accessible and memorable. It argues that research efforts to explore and analyze these metaphors, including the use of digital tools and interdisciplinary approaches, are not only a significant contribution to the study of the history of ideas, but have the potential to change the reception of Buddhism among accademics and in the Western world."
